Wake Up

Wake Up

I’m waking up after what feels like a lifetime of slumber. I’m waking up to see the light, the truth, and I feel slightly dazed and confused, yet at the same time, things seem more clear then they have before. Have you ever wondered if you were awake or still dreaming? When we are in our own way walking where we want, and how we want, but are not walking in Christ we live in a dream world. When you have that spiritual awakening and you finally come to realize Christ was what was missing in your life, you wake up from a long dream. How many people can testify to the physical and emotional change to the very real realization Christ was missing all along? When you finally wake up you can feel it in your bones. A friend explained his coming to Christ like this, “Like the beginning of spring. Sunshine, warmth, new life. Like a tremendous weight was lifted off my chest and I was breathing for the first time. I remember thinking that life was still just as hard, but it no longer felt impossible “ (Glen Newsom) We has a people have become so dependent on the system of our society that we have a hard time letting go. We are so plugged in to the world around us, how could that world be wrong? We change our views over time as what’s acceptable, and what isn’t, but we cannot see how wrong we are as a people.

Even if one day I find myself on the wrong side of the law in my faith, I shall rise up and continue preaching the truth. We cannot stand idly by and just hope for the best. We cannot rely on the principles of man to dictate what’s right or wrong. We cannot rely on our own moral code to be a voice for truth. Sin can blind us from the right path, and it forces people to make wrong choices, and follow horrible paths all the time. I will find myself guilty of loving God, accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, and when or if the day comes, I hope those whom I’ve reached will wake up and follow along with me.

What if I told you that you could wake up from the dream you’ve been living? Romans 13:11 “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” The time we have in this life is short and we never know when it’s time for us to expire. We never know when or how, and we should never put off for tomorrow what we should today. Lay down the chains that bond you to sin and follow the light. Fear keeps us in sin, and keeps us afraid of letting go of our own steadfast beliefs. Fear of being wrong, or fear of not being in control of your own life. Fear keeps you in the shallow end afraid of getting wet. What’s the cost of following Christ, is it truly worth your eternal soul to turn your back on the truth? Why are you still holding back from our Lord, when we have so much to live for in this life and in the next. We cannot deny the truth that in the sacrifice on Calvary’s cross. When will you be tired of wondering, of waiting for answers you seek on your own? When will you choose to stop holding onto this life and reach for something greater then yourself? The love of God is nothing to be afraid of.

All I have to say is when you’re ready for the truth you better hold on tight because the flame is hot, and you’ll feel it. The lifting of the weight off your shoulders, and when you can see for the first time you’re eyes are gonna hurt. Following Christ isn’t ever easy, but the rewards for a hard life far out weigh the life we could live in sin. They say sinners are more fun, but they won’t be having any fun in Hell. If you can let go of being plugged into the world and see that this world is the true test, you may find yourself considering how worth it, your decisions may be.

My Lord, my prayer is to reach down and touch the heart of just one. Use my words to touch a heart, and start the change. As your mercy falls upon one, I will raise my to you my Lord. Through the good and bad weather I praise you my Lord. No matter if I cry, or laugh, you are always here with me. When life itself is crumbling around me, you’re still with me. You’ve lifted me up and comforted me when I couldn’t see beyond my own pain. You’ve healed my heart, and I know it’s you I have to thank. Praising you in the storm is hard, but I know it will one day pass and you will make the sun shine again. You aloud me to wake up from my pain, from my sin, and in your grace you’ve given me a second chance at life. It’s never too late to turn around, and I know God you will lay your hands upon someone.

Amen.
