Sunrise

The only comfort to ease my soul is knowing I’m loved by God. You break me down, forsaken, left, forgotten, and the burden of loss, failures and doubt creeps in like gouls and goblins in the night. We may never know how long we will walk without a flesh companion but we are promised that God is with us always. We must have faith in Gods plan. We must remember that free will was a gift and a curse. I myself am not innocent and I pray for forgiveness and I pray my new path is pleasing to God and I pray for blessings. To those alone this day trust in the Lord. Have faith, and rejoice in the birth of our savior.

Tomorrow brings new life and as the sun will rise we face a slew of fresh challenges. The river of life can change with one big storm, but as the clouds recede the waters return to a state of a new normal. The river will never be the same again and as destructive as the storm may be the chance to see new scenery, new places, new adventures. We may never know what’s just beyond the river bend, but what we do know is we have the stars to guide us, the compass in our hearts, and faith to fuel us.

What Does it Mean To Have Honor?

What Does it Mean To Have Honor?

Swords are tempered with fire. If I’m going to be a living weapon for God I too must go through trials, and my faith will be tested by forged in fire. Romans 5:3-5 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” When life gets hard how do you react? When provoked do you give in to anger? When we are sad do we turn to others for healthy outlets, or do we follow a destructive path? Hebrews 13:18 “Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.”

The Klingon’s have a code of honor they live by. Death is glorious as long as it’s dying in battle. How people treat one another, how business is done, honor is the number 1 thing to a Klingon. Never dishonor yourselves for when you do, it’ not only dishonor’s yourself, but also your entire family. As Christians we should follow a similar idea. When we dishonor ourselves we represent our Christian brothers and sisters. We represent our families, and above all else, re represent God. “Romans 12:9-13 “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.” There’s a saying I heard once, it goes something like this Lord please let them remember the things I get right, and forget the things I get wrong. We will always get it wrong, we will always make mistakes, but the key in that is don’t live our lives intentionally to dishonor ourselves.

There are simple rules to live by as a Christian Exodus 20

  • You shall have no other gods before Me.
  • You shall not make idols.
  • You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
  • Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  • Honor your father and your mother.
  • You shall not murder.
  • You shall not commit adultery.
  • You shall not steal.
  • You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  • You shall not covet.

When we break these rules on purpose, knowing our actions will hurt others, when we hurt others for our own personal gain you dishonor yourself. The Klingon’s aren’t the only race that holds honor to a high standard. The Japanese hold honor to a high standard, the Chinese hold honor to a high standard. That mode of thinking shouldn’t only be held by the Asian nations. If we put that high of priority on our own honor and integrity, and hold the commandments we can make a better world. The word for Honor is “Quv” or “to be honorable” The word for Honor is Russian is честь or ‘chest’. A Jedi’s weapon a light saber is honorable, just like the Klingon Bat’leth is considered to be an honorable weapon. A Samurai sword known as a Katana is their version of an honorable weapon. A member of the Knights Templar had a sword a beautifully crafted weapon, but perhaps not so much as the others, but all of these groups of people have a code, a code of honor. Live like Christ, be kind and love your neighbors, don’t lie, and cheat and steal for your own personal gain.

I read something the other day, “Here’s to Cheating, Stealing, Fighting and Drinking. IF you cheat, may you cheat death; if you steal, may you steal a woman’s heart; if you fight, may you fight for a brother; if you drink, may you drink with me.”

Never underestimate the power of love and faith and courage. Have all these things in God above.

Quiet Meditation

Quiet Meditation

When the world’s too loud we often can’t hear the sounds of our own voice inside our head. If we cannot find our own voice, how then are we able to listen to the voice of God? We cannot walk in faith if we cannot hear the quiet. No matter the mission we need to ensure time to plan and focus.

One thing I’ve noticed in my years, is when something becomes unhealthy the affect is cumulative. Over time the affects grow and in matters of the heart, scar tissue is built. We may not see it right away, but sadly resentment grows. If someone wants us badly enough we’ll know it, and we wouldn’t have to work so hard for it. Getting affection shouldn’t be a chore, it should come freely and naturally towards the other person because we want to make our partner happy. Love although can be one way, in a relationship it has to be a two way street. When the opposite side of the bridge is broken and there isn’t any traffic flowing, it’s time to find a new bridge. Finding the alternate route is hard, but it’s ultimately what’s best. In Gods timing we will have what we need, but we need to be proactive. Stand tall, stand proud, and let others see how wonderful we are.

There comes a time however when we all must retreat into solitude. We all need a time and place to be with God. Matthew 6:6 “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” It’s important when we pray we silence the world. We must use mindfulness to quiet our inner selves, and focus on our walk. James 4:8“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.” Never are we closer to God then when we know, absolutely certain we are doing Gods work. The closer we draw closer to the Lord then the Lord will draw closer unto us.

Mark 1:35 “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Rise early, pray, be thankful for the world and life you’ve been given.

Jesus often was known to escape into the wilderness. As for me, the thought for getting away for a little while seems enticing. Sailing the east coast, hiking the Appalacian trail, just my great Dog and me. Luke 6:12, Luke 4:42, Luke 5:15, all talk about Jesus knew the importance of silent meditation with the Father. Knowing how important it is to quiet the world, listening to your own heartbeat, listening to your own breath. Today in this world there are a ton of ideas how to do this. Yoga is a good physical and mental practice. Finding a war room for yourself to make a battle plan. What’s your battle plan?

Why Gamble with Eternity?

Why Gamble with Eternity?

Atheists, Agnostics, and those sitting on the fence are often the ones I fear for most. Many have asked me why I believe in God. The answer is both simple and complicated at the same time. For me the belief in God has gone back to my early childhood. God has given me comfort, guidance, hope, and love through the most difficult of my hardships. Given the possible alternatives following Christ, having faith seems to be the bet. There is plenty of scripture describing hell. The time between the book of Psalms and the New Testament is 586 BC to 50 AD. From the time of the New and Old Testament the conversation of Hell and Salvation never faltered. “Revelation 21:8 “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Then again in Matthew 25:46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” All the way back David talked about the eternity of God, 600 years before Christ stepped foot on the planet. Psalm 9:17 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” You’re talking truth in the writing that wasn’t accessible from Google. Truth was known in a time when Angels would talk to us, intervened in our lives. Today we don’t hear about Angels talking to us, but if we look closely, if we pay attention we can see the miracles when they happen. My life for instance is a miracle. I should have died but didn’t. My life was saved, and spared, and today I have this Blog, teaching and preaching about the Glory and Mercy that was given to me.

What are the stakes? Our lives, our souls are a high stakes poker game. Jesus Christ is our Royal Flush. If we follow him we win every time. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” It seems like such a simple truth. It seems so easy doesn’t it? Follow Christ and that’s it, you’ve won the golden ticket. But wait, there’s more, then you have Matthew 27:21-23  “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.”

I bet that’s confusing huh? What Jesus is saying is God knows your heart. It doesn’t matter how much scripture is in your mind, it doesn’t matter how much you give to charity. What matters is what’s in your heart, truly knowing your salvation is in Christ.

Why then is this a high stakes poker game? What if you don’t believe, what if you question the existence of God because of a lack of proof, or a lack of faith? You could loose eternal life. If you are going to live as a good person, believe in a moral compass, then why not use the Bible as that source of strength and courage? All you have to loose is eternal life for eternal damnation. We must ask ourselves if we don’t know what our afterlife holds, then why not put our faith in the one true God. Even if this is a bunch of hoowey, so you live your life to an honorable code. In this world we worship idols, we worship money, relationships, careers, we put all of our faith in worldly things that will eventually get old, decay, fall apart, break, and it’s a deception. It’s not just enough to know Christ exists, it’s about serving, its about true faith. Even Satin knows God, knows scripture, but has nothing but contempt for his father. The Devil wants us to walk a sinful path, he wants us to loose everything by forcing us to fold.

The blind man see’s, the deaf man hears, the lame man talks, the crippled shall walk, the dead shall rise, all in the name of Jesus. The day the Lord spoke to me, a great weight was lifted from my chest. In this high stakes poker game I will beat the house every time because my deck is stacked. I have a Royal Flush every time. God has given me the tools, the knowledge, and has shown me a better way. I have faith and that faith lets me fly on eagle’s wings. There’s freedom in our scars, there’s freedom in our pain. Never forget to stand toe to toe with the Devil at the table he’s betting it all on your cards being cold. The Devil’s bluff is just another lie. Heaven is perfection for all eternity. Earth will fade away, but Heaven will remain. Maybe God is an interdimensional being, maybe heaven is an alternate universe, the question you need to ask yourself is does that matter? Just because it’s beyond our understanding doesn’t mean it isn’t truth. So pick up your poker chips, throw all in, and lay down that Royal Flush because Christ is the only Royalty we will ever need.

Don’t minimize your importance

Don’t minimize your importance

A young man somewhere about 14 years old, destined to be a great man, a great King to unify the land. He was anointed to be King, a lowly shepard boy, the heart of a warrior, the courage of a lion, stands toe to toe with giants. With nothing but a stone and a divinely guided throw, killed the best soldier of the Philistine army. Can you imagine yourself as just barely a teenager going to war to fight in an insurmountable situation? If the world is so big and we are so small what chance to we have of making a difference? David was one man, and yet he grew to be a great king. 1 Samuel 17:46 “This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.” The young boy full of confidence, full of the Holy Spirit, stepped forward to face the enemy, an enemy that grown adults, seasoned warriors trembled before. With the strength and courage he not only faced the enemy with more grace and dignity then the whole of the army. 1 Samuel 17:49 “And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.” With the grace of God all things are possible. With the grace of God even the smallest of people can be chosen to fight the biggest of battles.

Another young man some of you may have heard of, a young Jedi known as Aniken Skywalker. A long time ago, in a Galaxy far far away, hopping in his little ship, flew into the heart of the blockade and destroyed the entire droid army. He was 12 years old. Yes, fictional, but as only one example how many examples are there? When the Lord uses us small creatures in the world we often try to run in fear. We try to deny that we are important. Our vision is so small and what escapes our understanding is normal, but not necessary. Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” In this world we will be tested just as JOB was tested. Job 2:1-6One day when the sons of God came to stand in front of the Lord, Satan the Accuser came along with them. The Lord asked Satan, “Where have you come from?” Satan answered the Lord, “From wandering all over the earth.” The Lord asked Satan, “Have you thought about my servant Job? No one in the world is like him! He is a man of integrity: He is decent, he fears God, and he stays away from evil. And he still holds on to his principles. You’re trying to provoke me into ruining him for no reason.” Satan answered the Lord, “Skin for skin! Certainly, a man will give everything he has for his life. But stretch out your hand, and strike his flesh and bones. I bet he’ll curse you to your face.” The Lord told Satan, “He is in your power, but you must spare his life!” We will be questioned about our faith, we will also be ostracized for it. Do not judge me for my size, or my worldly value, do not judge me at all, instead let God be the one to judge. It doesn’t matter your status, your positions, your job, what matters is you allowing yourself to be a vessel for Gods will. Mary became a vessel of Gods will and carried to term our savior for our sins. How can you be a vessel for Christ?

The Man Under the Hood

The Man Under the Hood

By The Arrow Preacher

Imagine yourself walking down a long road, mountainous, dry, dusty, at night, and all of a sudden out from behind the rocks 3 men jump out beat you to the ground, steal everything you own to include your coat, your wallet, your sandals, and leave you there bloody, cut, and dying. The sunrise comes as a welcome sight. Finally someone will see you and come and help. Your suffering is obvious; someone will surely stop and provide aid. You struggle to breath, you raise your hand to try and stop the masses from walking by you. Some even move to the other side of the road to get away from you. You can’t believe it, of all these people no one has enough compassion to stop and help? You see a peace officer pass by you and never stops or even slows down. A little while later you see and recognize your local senator you call to them, gasping past your own broken lung, but they walk by you, not looking down, pretending you don’t exist. Defeated, broken, and barely conscious you think it’s then end of the road for you. The day parches your throat, lips are chapped, and as the stars start to come up as the sun falls, a dark figure comes from nowhere. A dark hood covers his face so you can’t see him. He picks you up, barely conscious now, and carries you to a nearby inn. He pays for your stay, gets a first aid kit, and orders the innkeeper to help bandage you up. He says he’ll pay for everything. A dark knight from the shadows, a faceless protector the one to save your life, but who is this man under the hood?

Luke 10:25-37 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour? And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.”

Who are you in the story? Who are we all? “I always thought that I was the Samaritan in that story. It’s funny, isn’t it? How even the best of men can be… deceived by their true nature. What the hell does that mean? It means that I’m not the Samaritan. That I’m not the priest, or the Levite. That I am the ill intent… who set upon the traveler on a road that he should not have been on.” (Wilson Fisk) The ill intent of the travelers is most certainly the Devil and his games. He will brings destruction to everything He touches. During this war good people, civilians are caught in the firefight, casualties of war. The good honest man just trying to go to work, trying to take care of his family, trying to be a husband, trying to be a good wife, a good mom, the devil doesn’t care how it’s done so much as lives are ruined. The Peace officer who walked by, the politician who walked by let their hearts be hardened, let their cultural stereotyping blind them to the truth. It doesn’t matter how someone looks, how someone sounds, we are all people first and we should be treated as such. In my own life I have been bullied, beat up, tortured emotionally by people different then myself. Even today as I find myself putting my life back together I have skeletons in my closet that could cause people to pass an unfair judgment upon me.

Is this what we do when we see the homeless on the side of the road? Is this what we do when we see someone suffering online, or at work? If the ill intent is the Devil inside us, who then is under the hood? Jesus commanded we love our neighbors, and that wasn’t just the ones we liked, the ones we tolerated, but our enemies, those who wish to do us harm. Christ living in us, is the man under the hood. It doesn’t matter what they look like, doesn’t matter who they are, what matters are those who are willing to do right and make a difference without seeking glory, or even a thank you. The hood can be worn by anyone, and anyone can be the Good Samaritan. We may not always get a thank you, we may not always be safe doing Gods work, but if doing Gods work leads to your own death, then that just means you get to go home sooner. Don’t be afraid to put on that hood and do good works. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” He lives so we can live without fear, we can live knowing that tomorrow we could be in perfection.

Jesus the real super hero

Jesus the real super hero

When bad things happen to us it’s easy to allow anger, frustrations, bitterness and for some hate to compound and grow in ones heart. When we are hurt or betrayed, sold out, left or forgotten by the people we care for most in this world, it can force us to fear others, fear even ourselves. When we suffer it’s easy to pull away from the light. “Once you let the darkness in it never comes out.” (The Huntress) So if even good people, even superhero’s can fall to the darkness within, what hope do any of us mere mortals have? You can change who you are, you can always let go of the pain and hate. Pain and hate are like a cancer for your soul. Vengeance is not bringing harmony to life, it brings further destruction. The real superhero in our lives is the living God. Jesus Christ preformed miracles, raising the dead, healing the blind, walking on water, saving lives. James 5:19-20 “My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.” As a superhero the idea is they never stop seeing the good in people, they never give up hope on the ability to save others. If that’s the case, then much like Batman the rules apply, never kill. The faith in the goodness of man is something that as the Lord knew, in order to save us, we must first fall. When we fail we learn more from our mistakes then our successes. Psalm 94:16-17 “Who rises up for me against the wicked? Who stands up for me against evildoers? If the Lord had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.” Learn scripture and figure out how to be a side kick for Christ. A line from one of my favorite movies, “Twenty years in Gotham, how many good guys are left, how many stayed that way?” (Bruce Wayne) Isn’t that the truth though? Living through life, are we one bad day from becoming a super villain? We must learn to let go of our hate, do not give in to it, not give in to fear, doubt, or sink to the level of our enemies. Forgiveness is about regaining harmony for ourselves, it’s about allowing the King and Savior of the universe to pass righteous judgment. We must remember to live above the get even mentaility. Once we lower ourselves to that level we loose. Romans 7:19 “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.” For every person there is both the light and dark inside them, both Justice and In-Justice. It’s for us to keep our dignity, hold our chest high, and let your cape flow in the wind. Be the sidekick for Christ, never forget the golden rule. Matthew 7:12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Mark 12:31 “And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” Matthew 5:38-40 “Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.” Let God be our true hero. Let the heart not be stained, let not the heart be hardened. Love long, love often, trust God, trust faith.

I got a friend in Jesus.

I got a friend in Jesus.

I see a silhouette of the man I once was. It’s like a flashpoint on the wall of just an outline of the old man, the burn marks that surrounded the intense heat of the fire that burnt down my life. Like the phoenix something beautiful can be born from the ashes. Like that majestic bird rising and taking flight Jesus also rose from the dead, more beautiful then we could ever comprehend. Christ became the embodiment of perfection. Heaven is our perfect home that we only need to believe and follow to be accepted into. No matter the road we are led down, we must remember that the fire will get put out. When your life is burnt to ashes we must learn to rise up better then before. John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” When we run through our life we have our hurdles and our pain, our joy and happiness. Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”

A quote from a famous movie I heard once was “”Life is an endless series of train-wrecks with only brief, commercial-like breaks of happiness.” (Deadpool) As cenacle as that may be, I’d say in life we should generally be more happy then not. Yes we are promised hardships, but we got a friend in Jesus. John 15:13 “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” There are a plethora of verses that Jesus calls us friends. John 15:15 “Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” Jesus is the great phoenix and he has offered to carry us on his wings to take us home when our journey has ended. Never give up hope for God never gave up hope on us. We truly are the Champions for Christ, we truly are the Champions over Satin and everything he tried to destroy. Don’t loose faith, take the challenge end never stop fighting till the day God calls you home. Keep fighting and never surrender to the evil ones calls.

Silver Lining in the Clouds Above

Silver Lining in the Clouds Above.

Look to the skies after a storm, we often see beautiful colors in the clouds, beautiful rainbows in the sky to signify the rain has passed. Such is the symbolism in our own lives. James 1:2-3 “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” We should know that through the good and bad we should count our blessings. Our faith is always tested no matter the challenge, no matter the situation, because it’s in both our hardships, and our successes that we owe everything to the Lord above. Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” As we commit to the Lord we will be guided in all things. Romans 8:18 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” The bad will always fall to the wayside. It may be a few days, it may be a few months, it may be years, but know that we must have faith, we must know that our storms may pass and we shall see our silver lining. The clouds will move on and the days will continue to come and go no matter our understanding. Job 14:1 “Man who is born of a woman is few of days and full of trouble.” Of all people in the Bible who knew pain it was Job. He lost everything and still remained faithful to the Lord. Find your own silver lining in any troubles you may face. Romans 12:12 “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” “Red Sky Morning Sailors Take Warning, Red Skies at Night Sailors Delight.” For every red sky morning, there’s a red sky at night. Do not loose hope, do not loose faith.

A fisher of men/ Finding love in all the wrong places

A fisher of men/ Finding love in all the wrong places

This blog will be unique. It will be a two-part episode as it were. Days like today I find that writing may be the only escape. The silence is deafening, the lack of companionship is excruciating. To truly find oneself you often need to take a long deep look inside, but also a long deep gaze into the pages of the one book, the only book that matters, the Bible.

As some call our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ more then a man, what else was he? He was a Fisher Of Men. Matthew 4:19 “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Jesus sent his disciples out into the world to bring the good news of Christ to the world. The great commission, Matthew 28 19-20 “19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” As good Christians we must learn to become fishers of Men/Women. We must learn how to approach people about Christ, learn how to talk about the good Lord. We must learn how to use Apologetics, to defend Christianity, and understand religious worldviews. Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” A world fallen into sin may cause fear to be used by the Devil to dissuade you from continuing your path to Christ. The path to heaven is not for the weak, or the faint of heart. In our path to bring others into the fold is tough, but worth the attacks to expose others to everlasting life.

In the efforts in our walk with Christ we often fall victim to loneliness, depression, anxiety. Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” When we walk in the troubles of the world, we often find ourselves looking for comfort, companionship. We may loose our worldly loved ones, we may watch them leave our lives, hurt us, try to destroy our very lives, our reputations, but in all reality this is the Devils grasp on their heart. Often King David struggled with depression, anxiety, struggles with worldly desires, but in that deepest pain the book of Psalm’s was born. Psalm 23 “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Do not be fooled, the Devils taunts are tough, the lies sound good, and when we need comfort, all manner of temptations will be thrown into our path. 1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” We look for love, but if we are faithful to the Lord, the Lord will take care of us. John 14:23 “Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.” Ephesians 5:1-2 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Never forget where the true love in life comes from. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” We are promised that our God is faithful, in that faith we must trust in the Lord. Genesis 2:18 “And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” God wants us to have a companion, though we must have faith and trust in the Lord. Do not seek love in ungodly men, or ungodly women. Do not seek love in the desires of the flesh, but in the righteous who follow the Lord. Have faith and be patient with God, for he will bless you for it.
