What Color is Your Lightsaber?

What color is your Lightsaber?

As the country has been engulfed in pop culture you’d be hard pressed to find any household where someone doesn’t know the name Star Wars, or Lightsabers. The bigger question is what do light sabers have to do with Christianity? In the world of Star Wars each light saber’s color represents the holders personality and specialty. As seen on screen there is Green: Peace through force when necessary. Blue: Justice and Protection. Red: Evil and Power. Purple: Moral ambiguity. Yellow: Intrigue and pursuit (patrol). There are many, many more colors. When you start to break down your place in this world each of us has a personality, and that personality will match up with a particular color light saber. My color, much to my own chagrin would most likely be blue. (My favorite color is green) Being a Jedi Guardian Using Force on a physical level, light saber combat rather then strength with the Force. Protecting civilians. Romans 12:4-6 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith;” As we are one bodies in Christ, so as the Jedi’s mission with the Jedi counsel. Protect the universes and maintain the balance within the force. Proverbs 27:19 “As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man.” When you consider the color of your own light saber, how do we use our gifts for the Lord? Do we want to be a villain, a protector, a negotiator? Christ recruited fisherman, tax collectors, zealots, and with each of their own particular gifts, and personalities they used them in their own way of teaching and preaching. As each personality of the Jedi provided them a place in the universe, so do our gifts for the great commission. As my gifts lead me to a protective role and justice, I know now how to use my particular personality for Christ. Some people have a moral ambiguity and this purple light saber would often fall to people who follow the rules they want to, but bend them when they feel it suits them. Red obviously is that of evil. Those who fail to follow the Lord, those who have an appreciation and love of Sin would hold a red saber. Find your place by evaluating your own saber color. Which force are you? Do you fight for the light or the dark? Are you a Jedi for Christ, or a Sith for Satin?

Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Is the juice worth the squeeze?

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” As Christians we find ourselves in the middle battles, wars, storms, but through it all we must remember these things were actually promised to us. It’s not that we won’t face these things, it’s how we handle it, its how we give up the unknown to Christ. We must remember that when dealing with problems, when dealing with our troubles we are commanded to take them to the Lord. When we deal with these issues are we walking with the Lord? So what does this have to do with Juice? We are given a choice to live a life of continual sin but what are we giving up? Matthew 7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Heaven is the juice. As stated in Revelation 21:4-8 “4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” 6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Eternal death verses perfection, what do we want? Are the pleasures of worldly things worth giving up perfect eternity? This is a question we all must ask ourselves. In our everyday walk with Christ our choices are being tallied and counted. Never forget to ask yourself if whatever you are going to do is worth your eternal self? Walk with Christ today, so you can walk with Christ forever. We never know how long we have so if choosing Christ is not worth today’s satisfaction, then maybe for you the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. For me, living for Christ is worth giving up as much sinful behavior I can. No one is perfect, but living for love, living for giving, living for each other, and living for Christ has got to be number one in our life.

The Strongest

The Strongest

Living day to day is never for the weak. The ability to fight the fight is something that takes time and effort, and a lot of faith. As the strongest are often the ones who take the brunt of the fighting, we must remember that the war is not that of flesh and blood but of principalities, the spiritual plane, the fight for our very souls. We may never fully understand how lucky we are, but if we understand nothing else, we must know God is for us. We may fall and fail our fellow man, and fail ourselves, but in the words of Thomas Wayne “Why do we fall, so we can learn to pick ourselves up.” It’s okay to get knocked down, just always fight to stand again. Be vigilant against the whiles of the Devil. He will sneak and lie, whisper, and deceive to achieve his goal. The great deceiver is always on the hunt to find a chink in the armor. Defend yourself.

LIVE, LOVE GIVE, DIE

Living for Christ

Loving for Christ

Giving for Christ

Dying for Christ

The world is a cruel and dangerous place. The nights can be cold, the days can be hot. With each passing breath we can only guess our future. With a set number of breaths, a set number of days, a set number of sunsets, we can only come to one honest Truth….. We have no idea what our future holds. If we live for Christ then at the very least when we get beat down we know that our bodies may break, but Christ will call us home to be reborn in perfection. Live like tomorrow may not come and to live in Christ now is to truly live later. Loving Christ is easy for some, hard for others. What makes Loving Christ so hard? As a father loves their kids, sometimes you must let them fall. Sometimes you can’t always prevent the bad things from happening. That doesn’t mean your father doesn’t love you. Sometimes tough love is needed to get the lesson to sink in. God is no different with us. When we blatantly walk against Gods wishes we are bound to have our own troubles. Matthew 6:33 – “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” We must give love to everyone. We must give our love to Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:15 – “And [that] he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” We were given the greatest gift we could ever hope for but never deserve, forgiveness. We were given eternal salvation if we only give our hearts to the Lord. 1 Peter 3:7 “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” We must give our hearts and love to our wives, our husbands. “Ephesians 5:23-26 “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,” As men we are supposed to lead by example. We are supposed to love and cherish our wives such as Christ loved and cherished us. The catch, Christ died for us. Are we willing to die for our loved one? To love Christ one must be willing to love and cherish the word. To love Christ is to be a potential target to those who hate what Christianity stands for. As most of the Apostils died for what they believed in, they never gave up on that faith. 1 Peter 4:11 “If any man speak, [let him speak] as the oracles of God; if any man minister, [let him do it] as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” If we die, die for Christ so that way you may live. For those who love James 4:14 “Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” With the little time we have do not live to die. Live to live forever in heaven.

Resurrecting the Dead

Resurrecting the Dead

Ecclesiastes 12:7 “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” From the dust we are made, so shall we return. We are walking dead if we are not with Christ. As our bodies grow old, grow weak, we will all succumb to time, but what of our spirit? If we do not know and follow Christ we are walking dead. Our spirits will never find home, they will never ascend to Heaven. Our souls will enter hell if we are not saved by the light. Romans 14:8 “For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.” The opposite is also true. We must not sit by and watch as people walk through Christ without the Lord. We have a place in this world to spread the Gospel to expose the word to non believers. Ezekiel 3:18 “When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.” We see this again in John 8:24 “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” Not everyone will understand our concepts. Not everyone will believe in the Lord. You will be asked many questions in the pursuit of ministry and missions, do not let this sway or deter you. All your answers can be found in the bible. Pray and ask God for guidance. Find a way out of your comfort zone and give up your life to the Lord. As the fall shows how plants and trees appear dead, spring brings new life. The trees blossom again and the world looks more vibrant. When we expose the words of God to others, we have the chance to watch them bloom and accept Christ.

Finding your legacy

Finding your legacy.

How will you be remembered? How do you want to be remembered? Our legacy is what we leave behind after we’re gone. For many of us it’s money, fame, children, but the most important legacy is passing on the teachings of Christ. As we grow older we make choices and those choices have more dire consequences the older we get. When we are young our choices more often then not only affect ourselves and even then not life altering. When we are older we make choices that can literally change the outcome of someone else’s life. How we choose to treat others, how we act, how we behave can destroy or build hope, family, love. It seems to me that how people remember your life, the kind of person you were is so important. Too often we live our lives for just ourselves but is that really the right thing to do? As with most things in life the answers are within our fingertips. Psalms 78:4 – “We will not hide [them] from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.” I have seen so many kids fall into the same lifestyle as their parents. I have seen so many people make a life of hurting others that that’s the only thing people remember about them. When you think about certain names or events names probably stick in your mind. Oklahoma City. Colorado Movie Theater. Boston bombing. For most the names of those responsible are on the tip of the tongue. What about in your own life? If you where to die tomorrow what would people remember about you? More importantly how do you want people to remember you? Deuteronomy 6:5-7 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” If you live your life in a Godly way there should be no doubt of the legacy you leave behind. We will always fall short of the glory of God, but that doesn’t mean that gives us the right to treat others with disrespect. That doesn’t mean we treat others with vagrant disrespect, cruelty, distain with no reason at all. Being kind to others, and letting go of our selfish nature will greatly improve our life, because to love others, to give up ones selfish ambitions and put God first will be blessed. Matthew 6:20-21 “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” So when we live for Christ and we follow 2 Timothy 2:2 “And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” It seems straight forward, don’t be a jerk. For some that seems hard to do. Ruth 4:11 “Then all the people who were at the gate and the elders said, “We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman, who is coming into your house, like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. May you act worthily in Ephrathah and be renowned in Bethlehem,” Ruth was a lady, a true Godly woman. She left a legacy that changed the way a kingdom was ruled, and saved her people from annihilation. You don’t get a much better legacy then that. Be kind to those around you. Be kind in your marriage. Be kind to your children. Be loving and thoughtful. Following a life of sin will lead you to nothing but misery. A life of sin will hurt those around you. It will destroy healthy relationships; push those who love you away, and as much as we try not to, we will be judged by our actions. If you lie to those around you, you will be known as a liar. If you hurt those around you, cheat those whom you claim to cherish, then that will be your legacy. If you lie, murder, steal, abuse others, then that’s a choice that could potentially haunt you forever. My favorite Christmas movie is a Christmas Carol and it seems it plays a roll in this Blog. Scrooge is a vial stingy man. He cared for nothing but himself, his money, no loved ones, no thought of the pain he brought to others. When he is shown his future, his own funeral, no one had a single nice thing to say. If you could be shown your own funeral what would people say about you? Grim thought, but as one of my favorite songs says “Your one step away from surrender, one step away from coming home.” “One step for arms wide open, his love will never let you go.” “Doesn’t matter how far you’ve gone, mercy says you don’t have keep runnin down the road you’re on, loves never met a lost cause.” (One Step Away, Casting Crowns) God’s love is never ending, it’s everlasting, is yours? If you want to leave a positive legacy live your life in Christ. Teach your children the good word of the Gospel. Expose your children to the truth, and live your life according to that truth. Your best life is up ahead if you let go of yesterday, make the choice today to follow the Lord. Let the Lord be your light, your source of love.

Saber (Memorial)

Saber

The warm gritty air holds a sent that takes months to get out of the clothes. Sand from recent storms still falls from pockets, from weapons, and the trucks. The mission is simple. Find weak areas, note them, and return to base. Two teams moving parallel down the railroad tracks. Routine if we’d ever heard of it. All the snatch and grabs major patrols, IED’s, nothing ever prepared us for the fate of the tracks by the pond. Cloudy day. A bit odd for Iraq, but changes little. My knee stops me from driving for another few days so I’m dismount. Going over the tracks a wave of concern passes through me. The wires, I hear in my head. “Look out for wires” I tell my driver. He replies but it’s not important. It won’t matter. We take the low road, the other group stays high. 20 minuets go by and that’s when it happens. The crack, then the bomb, then the smoke and fire. I can see the door of the Humvee in the smoke. We race to get back but we’re too late. The truck is destroyed. Why I ask to myself. The anger boils up inside but I keep everything in check and at bay. I grab my kit and run to the man I see. Several wounds on his legs, a small would on his neck, but it was when compressions started I realized where the injury would be. Internal. Bones where broken and turned to powder. I was not a doctor so I continued to try. I pushed and pushed. Eventually I would be pulled away by force. One gone, but three remain. One more found, but KIA. Two found and being treated. One left to find. Blasted into the water, so that’s where I went. I took my body armor off and sunk down into the water. Me and a partner grabbed him and pulled him back. He’s gone, suffered no pain. His mangled body would bring nightmares to my sleep for years to come. 4 men died for what? A war against who? When we look at the politics it doesn’t matter. What matters is the man and women beside you. Make the choices to be a brotherhood. John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” We never forget the day when it comes around. We never forget the pain, the smell, the sights, the sounds, the feel of the blood on your hands. The feeling as if it never comes off. War is inevitable. War happens and what’s important is how we conduct ourselves in war. What are our reasons We loose loved ones in war but we know that they didn’t die in vein. They who knew the Lord now fight the fight in heaven. Anger and sorrow, nightmares and fears are what’s left behind for the rest of us. To bare the cross of guilt, of sadness, of anger, of loyalty, of vengeance, we must remember that only through Christ can we be free of our burdens. Ecclesiastes 3:7 “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;”

Never give up, never surrender.

Good by Sabers. You are lost, but never forgotten.

Second Chances

Second Chances

How often in life do we get a redo? How many chances do we get to overcome true adversities and mange to come out of the storm with your head held high? In life Gods gifts are big and small. Our faith will often be tested and pushed to the brink. It is often only at the brink were we fully realize our true potential. No matter the path we believe we are on the only true path is that of Christ our Savior. The strength of character to live a life in Christ is a path that is not for the faint of heart. What does it mean to truly live a life in Christ. We have struggles so we are tested. We have faith and courage to keep that faith. For it is our faith that keeps us true to the larger course. The forest grows with no help from man, and yet we feel the need to control our every minute. The true power is no power at all. There is no power of man that is true power. Power is an illusion that is made up to make us feel better about ourselves. When the sun rises on the morrow what power do we as mortal men have?

We can build great monstrosities, we can create wondrous pieces of technologies, but the true power is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us strength beyond our wildest imagination. We have the ability to overcome death and enjoy eternal life. 1 Corinthians 1:18 “ For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” Wise men live and die but those who truly choose life understand that the flesh of this world is but temporary in the eternal plane. To live life is to understand what that life is built upon. 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” The path of Christ will be one of trouble and pain and as Christ was tortured in this life we too will bare a cross, one we must truly accept.

The second chance is a second chance of life. When this world ends and it will end, which side of the wall do you want to reside? Will you labor for Christ to live inside the walls of paradise or will you accept the world as it is believing that you are in control, that you have power within your life? When threatened with death one often faces a realization that either they are afraid, or welcoming the unknown. The other side is beyond human comprehension. Isaiah 45:5-8 “I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the Lord have created it.”

Facing ones own mortality is the truest of second chances. To see death, to witness death, and to hear the voice of God and the love and compassion of our Father is a gift. Know that for our sins we are not in bondage any longer. If we remain in chains it’s of our own doing. Lay down your heart and follow Jesus. Do not give in to the prince of darkness, he will deceive you, he will lie to you, fool you. The prince of darkness will steal you from your place in paradise for the promise of worldly desires, for it is in those desires that sin is truly born, and true death is a reality. Isaiah 40:28:31 “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Who We Are?

Who we are?

We are mothers, fathers, brothers, Sisters. We are doctors, retail, manufacturers, security professionals. We are white, Asian, African American, Hispanic. We all come from the same place, we all have a Mom and Dad. We may have fundamental differences in ideologies, but we are all residence of this place. We are all here for a short time. We are all sinners. What makes some people good and some people bad? People who claim Christ as their Lord and Savior can still do bad things. We must understand that we all fall short to the glory of God. No matter what we think, we are children of the king. Perfect in our own way. Created for a purpose. When we are burdened by life’s unfair nature where do we turn? Do we have enough self respect to know that whatever we may look like, whatever we may sound like we are perfect in Gods eyes. We are his creations. God loves us in all of our imperfections but we need to learn to embrace them. Tall or short, glasses or no, freckles or not, handicaps or not, we all all children of the King. Our souls are the most important thing about us. Stop making skin deep judgments. Look at a persons soul. Live as the person Christ would want you to. Stand up to bullies who make fun of what they don’t understand. Rise up against those who prey on the weak. Stand firm against those who would use and abuse others for their own personal gain. If you’re going to be a lion, be a lion for Jesus. We all have insecurities about ourselves. We all wish something would be different, but you are the one in a million and that’s saying something. Who you are can never be duplicated. You are a unique creation and anything that unique is special. Psalm 139:13-14 “You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother. I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this.” Never underestimate your importance. Isaiah 64:8 “Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” Be in tune with God and let him shape you into a warrior for Christ. Psalm 119:73-74 “You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands. May all who fear you find in me a cause for joy, for I have put my hope in your word.” Never loose faith in yourself. Be beautiful inside and people will see the beauty shine from within.

The truth is, this is something I struggle with every day of my life. For years I was ridiculed in school, berated for the way I looked, dressed, even sounded. For years I was tortured in school by bullies. To this day I have lost two wives to affairs. The long-term affects of this heartbreak have forced me into great struggles of self worth and my own self-esteem. As I find myself questioning myself, my own self worth, scripture is my guide and my comfort. I have my faith to guide me. I have my love for Christ, but more importantly, I have love FROM Christ that I know one day my struggle will end. Never forget how important life is, and no matter what happens you are special.

On a personal note, to a friend that offered to help spread the word about this page and showed herself to  be a beautiful lady. Thank you for the kindness!

Fighting the Devil one Battle at a Time.

Fighting the Devil one Battle at a Time.

As a man who has seen war, I myself know the horrors that mankind can create. The sad part is even what I have seen isn’t the worst thing out there. My experiences in war were tame by most standards. The war between men however is nothing compared to the battle going on around us that we cannot see. Every whisper, every pull on a heart to go in the wrong direction in life is part of the fight. The first thing we must understand is no matter what happens to our bodies in this life the true fight is our souls. 2 Corinthians Chapter 10:3-5 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” We all know that the Devil plays games, pulls at our desires, our sinful nature, but what we don’t usually realize is part of the chess match with the devil is also a race against the clock.

Though the end of our life is not known to us, it is to God and we but only one chance to win the war for our very souls. At the end of our life we have only one chance to know in our hearts where our salvation lays. We must lay down our hearts to the lord and protect ourselves from the games of the Devil. Ephesians 6:12 “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” The Devil loves to bring chaos to order. Heaven was order, it was created as perfection, and the Devil destroyed that direct link with the God almighty. Trusting in the Lord is always difficult and even more so when we can’t understand our own pain, our own suffering. We don’t understand the testing of faith. The Devil prays on our weak points, our weaknesses in our very heart. When we are given the free will of choice and we choose hate, when we choose cruelty over love, we have lost the battle.

The war is not lost but we cannot loose battle after battle. We cannot give in to those desires, we must not walk that path because the longer we’re on it the more likely we are to continue to scrape away those things in our heart that point us to God. We must not let the darkness within take hold. We must take every situation into account and know when to put on the Armor and go to battle. The war ends the day we die for us anyway. The clock ticks on our lives and as a time bomb always goes off and finds it’s target, death always gets it’s prize. How do we welcome death? Is it as an old friend, and enemy, an opponent in a game of cat and mouse? It seems to me we should embrace life to make the most out of it, to spread the Gospel as much as we can, but when the time comes be so comfortable in the life you’ve live, the love you’ve shared, the scripture you’ve learned and used that you welcome death because the juice is worth the squeeze. Heaven is the end of the war, the end for those who live faithfully. The end may come at any time, and as we never know when the battle ends, when the war ends, what side of the war are you on? What team do you play for? As for me, I’m team Jesus.
